WHERE WE STAND: KCLHC LADIES.

"The 2013/14 season was very successful one for the First XI. They managed to win a treble including the BUCS league, the Varsity Cup against their London rivals UCL and win the Macadam Cup over the King’s medical team. BUCS league saw the squad undefeated in all ten matches played gaining promotion into the top south eastern university league. Particular highlights include beating our London university rivals Imperial college 8-1, 6-0 and our own King’s medics team. The prospect of playing in the top flight is an exciting opportunity that all are relishing. The first annual Varsity with our central London rivals UCL saw a nail biting finale with King’s going behind a goal and coming back with skill and desire to see the 4-1 victory. Furthermore, we defeated our medics team for the second year in a row to raise the macadam cup. Playing for King’s College allows squad players to compete in two leagues BUCS and London Universities Sporting League which keeps all players busy and competitive. The first XI finished 3rd in LUSL league. The season was most enjoyable for all with all of our sporting successes met with great social activities and I very much look forward to the challenging season ahead."

KATHRYN LANG - 1ST TEAM CAPTAIN.

Kings College London 2nd team ended last season with a promotion into South Eastern league 4A. We had an unbeaten season only drawing one match against St Mary’s. The highlights include beating Portsmouth 20-0 and a tough win against London rivals Imperial 1-0. The second team also compete in the London university sporting league which next year we intend to join the first and second squad. Not only will this allow for a stronger and more competitive team it will also allow for the second team to compete at a higher level and promote fluidity between the two teams. As the second team we have a strong social aspect to the season with weekly socials but through the last few years the standard of hockey is greatly improving and we hope for this to continue with more second team specific training and our promotion.

MINNIE GAWTHROP - 2ND TEAM CAPTAIN.
